MLR Phone checks

MLR Phone checks

Didn't find your answer?

Sadly I'm depressingly familiar with clients getting BRC approaches (around 40 and counting) because we specialise in a target sector.  In the words of John Cleese in the cheese shop sketch - "what a senseless waste of human life".

However I have had a new thing through which is seemingly the same concept applied to MLR, informing me of an intent to phone me in the week commencing 22 April (rec'd 24 April!) to "ask about your business activities and your customers.  It will help us to decide whether or not we need to visit you and give you the opportunity to ask us any questions.  This should last no more than 30 mins".

Anyone had one of these before?  Know anything about them and their content?  And how much can I slag off the entire MLR regime (as experienced at my level) as being the same senseless waste of human life, without it triggering some busybody coming round to tell me how many buns make five?

We had one

It was quite painless and took about 10 minutes. They simply asked how we applied MLR checks on clients & companies, and how we completed risk assessments. They were happy with our procedures.

I didn't take the opportunity to slag off the MLR legislation, though. :)

MLR

I had a questionnaire in November 2010 followed by a phone interview in December 2010.Like Shirley I found it to be a pretty painless exercise.Unlike Shirley I did slag off the entire MLR regime! What I think of it is not printable on this forum,or indeed anywhere! Let me just say it is top of my list of the many "dislikes" I have of the system we, as  accountants, now have to suffer.Roll on retirement!
