MOD Flat Rate Laundry Allowance Other ranks

MOD Flat Rate Laundry Allowance Other ranks

Didn't find your answer?

I noticed this press release recently & thought of my son who should be in line for a bit of a refund.

What I am not clear from the release is whether he has to claim for the back years, or does

"The FREA will be given by amending your tax code for the 2013 to 2014 tax year. In most cases the revised tax code will be used against March 2014 pay."

mean that MoD & HMRC have sorted this out between themselves and he will get the back years automatically?

Has anyone got any more info on this at all?

technically Yes

he should have received a copy of his amended  tax code so you can see

He was not obviously aware of having had a revised code

and as the release was only made on 17 Feb 2014 I did wonder whether that might not have been too late to get anything issued & processed in time between the two of them - unless the release is the final chapter of a long running saga and was not made until they had all their ducks in a row re relevant code changes dependant on years of service.

thats is often the problem

perhaps he could have a word with the payroll dept or failing that ring up the PAYE helpline and they will say whether a revised tax code has been issued

Gave him the HMRC number at lunchtime

but did warn about getting through and that he might run up against someone who does not know.

Unfortunately for him I head of on post Jan holiday for a fortnight on Monday morning, so will not be able to assist.
