Moneysoft and RTI

Moneysoft and RTI mystery

Didn't find your answer?

Has anyone any experience of an FPS generated for RTI submission showing different numbers to the XML data actually filed with HMRC?

Have you talked to Moneysoft support - they're very efficient

Early stages, Bernard, but so far little progress.

The situation is as described. We happily processed a payroll and the data on screen and reports generated are just as we expected. The FPS was filed

We didn't know of a problem until Debt Management got involved. To cut a long story short the underlying XML data shows different numbers to those we input and processed. Very strange.

It's a long time ago but I once had this where three employees' details (out of 30 or so) were duplicated. Or, rather, the previous month's cumulative details were shown as well as this month's.

I only resolved this after prising HMRC's numbers off them. Took four months.

I've had exactly the same happen using Sage's Snowdrop payroll offering - the prior month's RTIs were, in places, duplicated on top of the current month.

Much as above, we only realised the issue when Debt Management got involved - to make matters worse, HMRC had been mis-allocating subsequent monthly payments against the fictitious "debt", and continued to do so even after we'd explained that there was an issue, further confounding any attempt at understanding the underlying problem.

Took about 9 months to fix, all told. I've got no advice but sheer persistence I'm afraid.

Two years ago the new year version of moneysoft showed different figures on the FPS reportto those filed. They assured me that the right info had gone to HMRC and when the fix came out the FPS info was corrected and matched HMRC figures.
Whose figures are correct - yours or HMRC - for the salary paid?

Ooooh - let me guess, Marion.

Hello Marion, on screen 'our numbers' are correct. The general reports one generates are correct - FPS, P11, P60 etc.concur with what was input and paid.

What HMRC has received, though, is incorrect. Drilling down to the XML data report in Moneysoft shows numbers we did not input. Those numbers are the ones that HMRC has received.

Is there any chance that there was an amendment/correction post-RTI submission? Are we talking about last year or current year? What do the final/most recent XML reports show for YTD?

We are talking about M12 17/18, and being pressured to do an EYU. I think we will have to, but I really want to get to the bottom of how this has occurred. No, there were no amendments or corrections. All textbook but with an eerie sting in the tail.

Had exactly the same, didn't know I could look at an xml thingy to see the difference, all I knew was the report to HMRC was as shown on our rti summary (except it wasn't). Had to do a EYU to correct.

Didn't bother contacting Moneysoft as have had unhelpful responses in the past, but will have to if this happens again, seems very random

Yes, your experience is the same. I'd had no reason to consider looking at the XML report when what was on screen was what I expected to file and my RTI report said that is what I had filed.

Watch this space . . .

Moneysoft has proposed a sequence of events that have given rise to this that to me seems entirely plausible. Prefer not to make it public.

We have had very similar issues. The 'EMP' form which we send to clients shows the figures we have input but occasionally when viewing the RTI data sent to HMRC we see differing figures and of course HMRC say WE have to do EYU.

just got another one, the amount returned seems to be nine times what it should have been and there seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. Debt management chasing and now I have to do another EYU...wondering now how many more are going to turn up

I have had problems with RTi, especially for workers with awaiting their NI. HMRC has a 'Known' problem that their software increases the reported salary by the amount from the previous month. took nearly a year to find this out and no work around, just EYU to fix it
