Moneysoft mid year start

How do I add a weekly payroll

Didn't find your answer?

I was trialling Brightpay and a couple of clients are weekly.  I decided not to go with Brightpay and was advised by Moneysoft to do a mid year start.
My only problem is that I have data to insert to week 9 (7th June) but I can only add it as month 2, which is 31st May.  I didn't realise until Friday evening and I was hoping Moneysoft would get back to me today with an answer as I need to submit 14th June RTI, which is obviously now late.

Can anyone suggest a way round it please?

I don’t do weekly payroll but won’t it let you set up weekly payroll using the mid-year start?

If you email they usually email straight back.

Are there many employees - could you enter all the data for the first 9 weeks (so mirror Brightpay submissions) and just not submit?

Why did you decide not to stay with them out of interest?

Watch out for payroll ids.

Or .... you could enter the weeks 1-8 totals as month 2 and week 9 separately.

Payroll is set to weekly, but you can only do mid year start by tax month. I've opted for Lion's suggestion, but it does mean a duplicate RTI for week 9, shouldn't be an issue though. Only 6 employees, but entering the figures weekly would mean 9 duplicate RTI's, which may have upset HMRC.

I had planned to switch to BP, but a couple of issues put me off. When sending payslips by email, it comes from a BP email address, not my email address. The other issue was cost. I'm at the limit for the £300 price, and one more payroll would have been £480 (I'm not VAT registered). The program was fine, a lot more polished than MS but little different functionality wise, and I was mainly interested in the Connect addition. Instead I'm adding pay dashboard so I'm getting the same benefit and saving £300 to boot.

Payroll IDs were imported from MS, but helpful advice all the same.

Why are you submitting another RTI for week 9 ?

You don't need to do that, so don't do it.

Fortunately I haven't done it yet, was a bit tired last night to work it out to week 8, and you are absolutely right. Got a reply back from MS this morning with precisely those instructions.

I have vague recollections of it throwing up warning signs that a RTI had been missed some time ago, which is why I thought it had to be redone.

Yes, it will. Because it won't know you've already done it on some other software.
