Mortgage interest on ancillary building

Client has decided to rent out their ancillary barn adjacent to their main residence.  This is via AirBnB and should qualify as an FHL.

Can we claim a proportion of the mortgage interest being paid against the barn income?   The mortgage was taken out to purchase the whole plot many years ago when the barn was used as an extension to the home.

I'm not aware of any reason why you shouldn't. I would in your shoes.
