Mortgage interest on rental property

Mortgage interest on rental property

Didn't find your answer?

Are you able to claim for mortgage interest on rental properties for past years.? If so how many years can you claim?

Why was it not claimed at the time. You would have to revisit the SATR's for the last 4 years. It sounds like there is more to this than you have told us. Regards Peter

mortgage interest

Hi Peter,

Nothing sinister, but the client forgot to tell us all relevant details, which has now come to light. We have now amended 2010/11 T R online.

Presumably only 10/11 could be amended as in date

for other years you will need to look at Overpayment Relief claims that replaced Error or Mistake relief.

Such claims must be made within 4 years of the end of the tax year or accounting period to which the claim relates.
