MOSS debt

Anyone had an issue?

Didn't find your answer?

Hello to all!

One of my clients, who has very small MOSS submissions, thought that HMRC took the payment as part of their normal quarterly figure.  In doing the accounts, I found he had not paid for any quarter since March 2016 (his first), so he subsequently paid the piper.  (Surprisingly, he's had no letters - but I guess HMRC aren't interested in chasing the debts of the EU - presumably they only hand over money when its been received.)

He has now had an email from our VAT office, to say there is a credit on his account.  This is the £30 he owed Germany for the March 2016.  The VAT office say Germany have taken over the debt, and would contact the client, who would then need to pay direct to Germany.  He hasnt heard anything as yet, and I wonder if anyone has had experience of this, yet?  How soon a debt gets taken over?  If trivial amounts are chased?

Hope you are all winning with the tax return deadline! :O)

Whatever you do, don't mention the war.
