Hello
Currently I am using BPT and then generate payslips in excel. I manage the Auto enrolments using smart pension, none of the employees opted to pay any pension contributions. Then use the pension regulator for declarations.
I have about 35 PAYE clients mostly with 1-5 employees and a couple with upto 15 employees. I offer these services as part of fixed fee for annual accounts package. To ease my own workload I am looking to move onto a software that could alteast generate payslips and let me export auto enrolment data, if any, to smart pension. Declaration would be a bonus.
I have been reading the previous posts and most of the reader are with moneysoft, 12pay or brightpay etc.
- 12Pay with auto enrolment is £457.20 yearly
- Moneysoft Payroll Manager 100 is £163.20 yearly
- BrightPay is £598.80 yearly [I beleive it was £200 about 2 year ago]
I see Moneysoft is looking good and is reasonably priced, I do not see any help on how to import data from BPT, change or create own payslip template.
I prefer using desktop software but don't mind using cloud based if anyone has a recommendation for resonably priced software
Thank you

When you say "none of the employees opted to pay any pension contributions", I hope you mean "all of the employees opted out and I have records of me enrolling them and them opting out". If not, you're in big trouble.
Personally, when I started with Moneysoft, I just typed in the details, but I didn't have as many employees to deal with as you seem to have. Nevertheless, you may have to do the same.
Don't really understand your comment about the payslip template. There are a dozen to choose from, not to mention thousands of colour combinations - is that not enough ?
Well done for sticking with BPT for so long.
Interesting.
My experience is that only three employees have ever opted out and all three of them have their own pension plans.
BrightPay imports from Basic PAYE Tools, links to Smart, and is an all-round top payroll package. The way it handles Auto Enrolment is intuitive and makes that side of payroll straightforward, with automatic prompts for action whenever needed. It has lots of useful features and I would recommend having a look.
I use Moneysoft and, if you know what you are doing for AE, then I don’t see why you would need Brightpay for this. However I have never used Brightpay.
Once everything is set up on Moneysoft it is very automated and trustworthy. I can’t believe you have not moved earlier.
You will probably have to re-enrol everyone soon. The letters are very good.
I don’t know why you would need to change the payslips.
Yes please - I have the task of transferring employees from Basic PAYE Tools to Moneysoft and would love to see a tutorial
I use Brightpay and would recommend it.
The autoenrolment features are easy to use and there is an import wizard which should take your data over from BPT.
Autoenrolment features are easy to use and you can integrate with pension provider or create .csv files to upload.
