MTD cloud-based software recommendatons

MTD cloud-based software recommendatons

Didn't find your answer?

For clients who want to put processes in place sooner rather than later, and based on your experiences as user, what accounting software would you recommend for the purposes of Making Tax Digital?

What ?

There isn't any yet. We await HMRC's final decision on their requirements.

I understand that HMRC hasn't decided upon the parameters yet. I'll be more specific - assuming that it's the cloud accounting software providers that will take the lead on MTD, which of the currently available cloud software products are you most impressed with ? Thanks.

The one most of us will use probably doesn't exist yet!

I was hoping for something a bit more constructive! What cloud accounting software would you recommend to a new client who asked you what to get?

Hey James - in answer to your varied questions? All (most) cloud software providers are currently planning how this will work but are unable to provide a definitive solution till they see the final requirements, part of which may be determined by the current con docs.

I work with Clear Books and this is now at the top of their "next development" list.

Having said all that, Receipt Bank does have something out but I've not looked at it as it links to cloud accounting, which will have its own.

No need to bang on about it !!

But since you keep asking, I'd probably suggest that he holds off a bit to see what comes on to the market.

I don't know who you work for, would you like to disclose this to us?

Top of my list is:
- any free software
- VT's offering, if any
- FreeAgent's offering if competitive
- anything but Xero

in answer to your question

Capium - Is available free and I think it has great potential. Others will tell you of other free options that are available.

I believe VT are working on their own version of something that will be compatable with MTD but no idea when it is expected to be ready.

Freeagent is very good for contractor or small business clients but the pricing is not cheap for a Ltd Co version which all my clients are.

If you are not a fan of Xero I would say that QBO is the closest rival to Xero available for half the price.

Great, sorry your posts all seemed very pushy. Why don't you tell us your thoughts?

Its too early to say who will win the race here, and i am sure there will be a host of free options available before this all happens.

I suspect the software houses know a lot more about MTD than us as they have been working for some time with HMRC on this.

An AWEB member has kindly shared his notes on current cloud options on this thread.

Have a look at Exact its a late entry to the game but looks to be a bit more robust than some of the other offerings currently out there.
