MTD question (remember those!)

Cant authorise new MTD client for VAT under old portal

I have a new client who is under MTD for VAT purposes.

Just tried to register him under the normal "authorise client" portal along with the other services but its not going through. All the other authorisations have gone in.

The period end is Jan, filed 5th March so it should be the last return.  VAT cert print is 2 days old so it doesnt seem to be old data mismatching. 

Has this route now been blocked?  Ie is the only method now via the client's business gateway account? I am sure we have taken on VAT clients in the past 12 months under MTD and used this to get authorisation.

There's an option for authorisation requests on the ASA now, down at the bottom of the home page.

thanks, I see it. It generates a link for the client to click on their digital account, assuming they have one. I guess its paper 64-8 otherwise.

Ah, I did not know that. Does it do that even if they don't have one? Seems an odd system, but I suppose that's never stopped them before.
