MTD Software for batch invoices

Batch invoicing

Didn't find your answer?

Hi, I have always used QuickBooks and Sage desktop accounting software. Now with the HMRC MTD starting soon, I will have to start using a cloud accounting software. I have tried a couple but they seem much slower because of having to create individual sales invoices, then save and approve them. I work from home so invoices have already been created, saved and sent to the customer by my clients. I am really looking for a system that does batch invoicing preferably. Does anyone have any recommendations please?

Thanks

MTD doesn't compel you to use cloud software, Quickbooks and Sage Desktop will both work.

There is no requirement to use cloud. It just has to be digital, with a "link"

You can dump our data into excel and using bridging software if you like

On your actual point, can import invoices into most software certainly into Xero.

Also my desktop packages won't be MTD compliant? They should work for a while but my QuickBooks is 2015 and I had problems a few months back filing VAT online. I eventually had to re install the software but not sure I can do that for much longer.

That's not the same thing as needing to go into the cloud though, you can just update what you use now.

As has been pointed out, you don't even need to do that if you have Excel, just pick up some bridging software and export your data each quarter into a massive spreadsheet and file from there.

MTD is only the 9 boxes, it is not SAF-T (which can involve reporting invoices to the tax people as is being done in various countries (Poland, Italy etc)).

Hence bridging is a solution that works for 2020 onwards. There is also no obvious reason why things like SAF-T cannot be done through a digital link rather than being hard coded into a cloud system.(Not that I have seen anyone say that the UK should implement SAF-T).

We don’t think they should implement MTD or MVD, let alone SAF-T

Sadly I can't update my QuickBooks Pro 2015 desktop system and buy it outright as apposed to an expensive monthly subscription.

You can export from QB 2015 into Excel and then use bridging software I believe in order to avoid the subscription costs.
It is my understanding, however, that MTD pretty much compels you to enter individual invoices so better to be producing your invoices from within your software.

So I'm assuming I could delay switching to the cloud until end of March 2020 for a limited company? If so can anyone recommend a bridging software?
Many thanks
