My comments deleted from an AW article

Didn't find your answer?

I'd like to highlight that my perfectly reasonable, unoffensive comments that did not breach the AW terms of use have been removed from the following article https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/practice/people/accounting-for-diversity...

I thought it would be in the members interests to point this out

I guess it's a bit like our relationship with HMRC - despite the let-downs we (or at least I) continue to expect the best at every point of interaction ... life would be far less bearable if one always expected the worst in advance.
I'm hoping the panicked reaction was somehow related to the one-off situation of the posts overlapping with Expo - nevertheless I still intend to hold Aweb to the highest possible standards (even though mine, like everyone's, slip from time to time)!

The MTD and diversity discussions show how the 'opening post' on a subject is sometimes no more than a primer to a much more interesting discussion between members. Is there a way (as with Any Answers) to keep live discussions on the front page, as it were? As far as I can see, unless I spot something of interest and follow it, it drops off the page after a few days and then I miss the discussion. (It's only really because of the panicked closure and consequent overflow to this forum that I picked up on those two before they fell off. See that as ironic, if you wish.)

An interesting point that should be considered if/when Aweb ever decide to revamp the software and the user 'experience'.

Along with a lot of the other 'functionality' complaints, this is the gap that has evolved between what the site was designed for (Blog-like articles with a short shelf-life and a Q&A section driven almost entirely by popularity rankings).

Whereas what (I suspect) the grown-ups would like is a member-driven forum - where, as you say, a post (whether AA or article) is merely a stepping-off point that may drift through badinage or quasi-philosophical discourse or legislative interpretations as the mood takes contributors.
[In fact almost anything other than 'in the absence of accountancy advice can anyone tell me what to do ..' style of post]!

And, returning to your main point, No I don't know a good way to 'keep an eye' on contributions to Articles. I keep a vague watch on the bottom of the page (and every few days run through the Articles main menu - relying on my memory to determine whether responses have increased and are worth investigating)!

I can't even see a way to view more than the latest three days' worth of articles. It's only because I followed the two links (the one in the OP here and the MTD one that I think Kevin provided a link to) that I knew, for example, that there had been a good discussion between creamdelacream and WhichTyler (to which I have chipped in a bit now) with multiple links to further reading.

It seems weird that the viewable history of AA goes all the way back to inception but Articles disappear from view within 72 hours (or I guess a bit more or less depending how many more are written and published). They're there forever, obviously (or the links would stop working); is there a list? A contents page? Anything? I've never really looked but I'm not seeing one now.

Sorry, been a busy day (trying to explain to a bunch of competing lawyers that there's a difference between paying for expertise and simply being ripped off ... £40k+ vs £4k-£5k for the same relatively straightforward process)!

Anyway, I suspect that the Aweb UI (user interface) differs depending on the technology you use to access it (PC or tablet or phone or ...) - which is indicative of elderly software.
I can only comment on the perspective of using a PC to view it all - in which case:

* Below the orange 'title-bar' (which says accountingWEB and has the Search box), there's a 'main menu' row
* The first 5 of these (Self Assessment through to Tech) contain most of the Articles - often accessed via a drop-down sub-menu (such as >>Tax >>Personal Tax)
* The majority of articles are to be found under the 2nd and 3rd main menu items (Tax and Practice) - and are shown (as illustrated links) in descending order ... i.e. with most recently published on left of top row - then moving from left to right, then down a row, and repeat (again and again)
* This 'flow' is interrupted from time to time with in-house adverts (such as a section on Trending and another on Resources) before you encounter the 'go to page' option near the bottom

Whether you knew all this already (or indeed it's useless info because Aweb appears differently on your device) ... what seems to be entirely missing is the Contents page (or a working Search facility) that you (and no doubt others) would expect and welcome.
