New Community Manager

New Community Manager

Didn't find your answer?

Hi everyone,

Before I get started, I wanted to introduce myself properly – I’m Henry and, as of next week, I’ll be replacing Becky as the Community Manager for AccountingWEB (among other sites). I’ve just joined the team at Sift, having previously worked in Social Media marketing and CRM development and I’m looking forward to doing all I can to keep up the great flow of content and discussion here on AccountingWEB.

I’ll be popping up from time to time (most likely look for me in Time Out) but if you have any concerns, ideas or questions, feel free to get in touch :-)

Looking forward to getting to know you all,

-Henry

Time Out

Is that with your feet on the desk, cuppa in your hand or with your head in your hands, sobbing quietly, a bottle on the floor and wondering why we can't play nicely?!

Good luck!!

Hi Henry, welcome to the strange world of accountants bickering and occasionally helping each other out.

Bottle of whiskey

I've already given Henry the obligatory bottle of something to ease the pain!

Henry is already getting stuck in, so please feel free to contact him from now on with your questions etc.

And please make him welcome, you rotten lot! :)

Any Answers summary page - response counts out of step

The 'latest answers' response count on the summary (right hand side) has a time lag and is frequently not in step with the count associated with the thread response count in the body of the page

i.e. - new community manager (at time of writing this)
Main body responses = 4
rhs summary response = 2

This is incorrect

Well...

@JC - they are different areas of the site and one may take longer to log (updated every 15-20 mins) than the other, this will explain this.

@The Innkeeper - yes, you are, I was only yankin' your chain :)

Oh I keep missing things that are stuck in stupid sub-forums..... well congrats, my wife is a teacher and it's a great job.  I wouldn't do it in a million years though.  I guess what I should have said is.... it's a great job provided you're cut out for it!!

Teaching has not been the same since they removed the compulsary part of the teacher training in "A level blackboard rubber throwing", and the black belt in "how to lift a kid out of its chair by grasping 6 strands of hair and yanking".  I recall a teacher who could kill a fly (or a misbehaving 3rd former) at 200 paces with a blackboard rubber, and the way he could hurl a ruler was truly frighening.  Of course, if the whole class was misbehaving he used the teacher's equivalent of bird shot - a handfull of bits of chalk.

As one of the rotten lot i say welcome

It'll be interesting to see if Becky has passed on her style as well as the bottle of happy juice or if Henry can make us all play nicely with a different tack.

Anyway welcome Henry.

Henry's tactics

I have advised Henry on the overall objectives of the forums, I have shown him how to approach certain tasks, he also has access to all my old records and has been devouring them. But, I have also told him that it is up to him how he wants to play; he can be as ruthless or as soft as he likes, providing he operates within the rules.

I have encouraged him to remember that during quiet times he should come and play with you in Time Out etc, so you can all get to know each other a bit better.

Henry is already showing promise; I think he may come up a bit tougher than I am! But he's listened well and is already getting involved on his second day, so he is to be commended for his enthusiasm and courage.

@tibi - I'm sorry you missed the original thread 2 weeks ago, and thanks for the well-wishes and support: https://www.accountingweb.co.uk/anyanswers/question/some-important-news

Welcome to the Jungle

Be sure to watch out for sabre-toothed accountants lurking among the posts. They can be dangerous when roused.

Tougher than you Becky? You're scaring us now.

My first time on AWEB

Welcome Harry. If they misbehave then you know what you can say "Punk, go ahead make my day". (Dirty Harry).

Good luck Becky. My sister-in-law became a teacher after leaving her job as a salesperson.
