My sister formed a new LLP with her husband. When she received the UTR, she didn't send it to her accountant (not me!). She's now lost it. She's been on to HMRC and has given them her own UTR, the LLP Companies House number, the LLP's VAT number, the address etc. The lady she spoke to at HMRC couldn't help and said she'd pass the query on.
I'm out of ideas (as is my sister's accountant).
Anyone got any suggestions? (Apart from the obvious!)

If this is true, the lady she spoke to at HMRC is a lazy, liar. They can trace your UTR number via your Companies House reg. number. They won't give this to you over the phone but will send it in the post which will take up to 10 working days. If it's a case that your sister cant wait that long as she needs to file her SA return before the deadline, for whatever reason, then she is knackered.
I would suggest the sister dump her accountant and get somebody who knows what they are doing.
An adviser that does not know what to do when a UTR goes missing does not bode well, given that it is a common issue and one that is very easy to rectify. God knows how that accountant will get on when they need to deal with a real issue. The idiot will probably ask for her gateway id and password next...
You could send a 64-8 in, with just the LLP company number and that should be sufficient to get it put on your list. Hopefully it will appear on your list before 31 January!
