New PAYE scheme but no URT

New PAYE scheme but no URT

Didn't find your answer?

On 15th May, I registered my new client's new business online as a Partnership for Self Assessment and VAT - I couldn't register for PAYE at the same time as the HMRC online facility does not allow you to register for SA, VAT & PAYE at the same time.  So having registered for SA & VAT, I went back in to register for PAYE.  Can anyone tell me how to get past the requirement for a partnership UTR?

I have asked the client to keep me informed of anything they get from HMRC.  They have their VAT registration, but still no UTR numbers for either the partnership or partners.

I have just telephoned HMRC's agent dedicated helpline for assistance to be told that I may have to wait until 17th August 2015 for the UTR numbers to be issued.

I am currently on hold on HMRC's Employers helpline.  I have prepared wages for the client's staff for the month of May, but obviously I can not send them via RTI until I can set up a PAYE scheme, I have been listening to music and helpful messages about lots of help & information on our website for the last 25 mins.

I am starting to loose the will to remain an accountant.  Can anyone help??

Wait

I think you'll just have to wait.

It doesn't mean that you can't pay anyone.  You have the perfect excuse for not submitting your RTI.

I rang the helpline, but they said they couldn't open a scheme without the UTR.  And this was the 1st time that they had heard of this as a problem...... REALLY!

Oh well looks like I will just have to process the wages and submit when I can eventually open a scheme.

Yes, but ...

Why don't you apply now for a scheme using the appropriate structured e-mail as I suggested in my previous post?  The PAYE references should come in a couple of weeks and you will then be able to submit the RTI reports.

[EDIT] Or is this what you are saying you have done in your last post?

You don't need a UTR

I am not sure if this link will take you straight to the intended screen.  If it does, select the appropriate option under 'Other ways to register' and complete the structured e-mail.  You will see that the Partnership UTR is not a * mandatory field.

If the link does not work, start at the beginning and answer the questions on the successive screens.

Thanks, I have now done this and it appears to have worked.  I will wait & see.
