New Year Honours - You decide!

New Year Honours - You decide!

Didn't find your answer?

Following the release of the 2007 New Year's Honours, the usual batch of sports stars, musicians and broadcasters were celebrating alongside more "normal" people who have done something good for their community.

But who would you pick from the accountancy and business world if you had the opportunity to pick the honours? Maybe Gordon Brown gets your vote or perhaps ex-ICAEW chief executive Eric Anstee is the man for you. Send us your choices along with the reasons why to [email protected] or click on the 'post a comment' link below. Happy New Year!

If I had my way
It would be Nichola Ross Martin for grabbing this site by the horns and, in a remarkably short space of time (and without any downside), making it more friendly and thus more fun.

Do ye ken or do ye no ken
Sir Ken Frost sounds about right. He has done the most for the ICAEW in recent times and his messages now command widespread support amongst its members and students. AA declared Ken Frost and Eric Anstee joint 11th as financial figures to watch this year - and a 50% success rate is good for them.

Prem Sikka
If Mike Rake deserves a knighthood, then Prem Sikka deserves a peerage. No one has done more to draw attention to the need for an ethically based profession, and thecontinuing absence of that quality. See http://www.essex.ac.uk/AFM/staff/sikka.shtm

Mind you, I expect he'd refuse it. Prem does this stuff because it's the right thing to do, not for reward.
