No receipt for some stock!

Didn't find your answer?

I've been buying quite a lot of arts stock from car boot sales, jumble sales etc and for a lot of the items I haven't got any receipts ( totally some £400) I've been keeping a diary note of when and where I purchased the items but I'm worried about putting in lots of items without receipt. The prices of the items are easily determined by a simple google search if that makes a difference?

Whilst no help re the past I have in the past, for clients running similar business entities, suggested the use a carbon book (box) with the business name printed on each sheet, boxes to insert date, name and address of seller , description of items and the amount paid by you and ideally signed by the seller.

For anyone dealing with "Art/Antique" items I think it is important that they can show who they purchased from etc, one day one of the items purchased may turn out to be stolen, covering your back in such an event is helpful.

In addition if prenumbered it gives a ref number re line entry into a secondhand goods stock book, essential once vat becomes an issue re margin scheme activities but also useful if requiring to compute stock each year end.
