Non established taxable person - Eire

Didn't find your answer?

Hi,

has anybody registered business in Ireland as  NETP? Do you use fiscal agent or manage all yourselves?

As we are trading with ROI and due to incoterms we will be using we will have to have a VAT registration and I am trying to work out where to start. Bloody Brexit :D

Thanks

As you are not established in Ireland you need to use the paper forms and you can do yourself.

It might be easier to appoint an agent to do the registration and setup ROS (the Irish equivalent of HMRC's online portal) and get the agent to file the first few VAT returns as the return is different to the UK return.

You can always take the return back in-house after a while/after you're comfortable with it, with all things Brexit related, do you really want to tie up your time trying to navigate the Irish VAT system, whilst also trying to get your head around all the other aspects like import duty, shipping documentation, etc.

If you don't know the Irish VAT system then you could end up making costly mistakes.

I know Brexit is a pain but it is what it is, the UK is unlikely to re-join the EU (remember, we've already left, we're just in a transition period), but it's good to hear you are advanced in your preparations.
