My client has a limited company and wishes to make a donation to and individual through a funding website. The company will get nothing in return. I believe in this instance it is towards a US patient's medical expenses. Can she do this through her company? If she can, how would I best account for it?
My gut tells me no, she can't. She'd have to do it as an individual - but I'm hoping to be wrong. At present she isn't even taking any money out of the company for herself - this should change soon. She's new to being a limited company and so far has just been leaving the money there to pay the business expenses and do extra advertising etc.
I would be grateful for any help you could give me on this. I deal mainly with sole traders who in some ways are far simpler.

What does looking at the legislation tell you?
I had a curry last night so I think it's allowable!
