It's a while since I took accounting exams but one of my junior's wants to take a qualification. He is good but hasnt studied for while and it has to be via distance learning as he cant commit to a set day/evening a week for personal reasons. In view of this I am looking at enrolling him for the AAT Bookkeeping qualification. The only providers accredited by AAT appear to be Premier Training or McArthur Online - anyone tried either?

Premier were pretty decent when I considered an AAT-based route, but that was back in 2010 and I soon ditched AAT for the CIMA certificate, so perhaps not the most relevant feedback!
Unlike mrme89 I have never got on with Kaplan - I find them far too wordy, especially at lower levels where on-the-job experience is going to provide a lot of the context.
There's loads out there, not sure where you're only getting two from!
I was advised to avoid Kaplan as they have something of a bad rep.
Currently I'm with Accountancy Learning, for my Level 4 AAT via distance learning. Quite happy with them at the moment.
However, what I found most important was to look where you/your employee is going to sit the exams - you still need to go into an actual centre for the exams and if you're not careful, can end up travelling miles.
I'm a bit late to the party, but I am here to confess my love for BPP. I find their materials concise and easy to understand, and their online classrooms are fabulous! I tried Kaplan for CIMA and found it to be a complete waste of money, and re-purchased the same from BPP. (And if they don't want to do an online classroom, you can find the books used for cheap, which is a bonus!)
