Online tax subscription services

Best value for money?

Didn't find your answer?

I can't recall seeing this much discussed.  Apologies if it has and please point me in the right direction if so!

My working arrangements have changed recently and I need now to subscribe to a reliable service.  I've used CCH and Lexis Nexis at various times in my career without becoming especially attached to either and I'm tempted by Bloomsbury's offering.  Are there any others?  I'd be interested to read other users' views and experiences.

I want whatever best supports an independent tax adviser (one person) operating across a fairly broad spectrum on behalf of clients and small accounting firms.  It's great that free trials are routinely given but frustrating that pricing is generally cloaked in secrecy.  The prospect of spending hours and hours trying to compare apples and pears and dealing with sales people from competing organisations doesn't entice me.

Reliability/quality, ease/speed of use and value for money are more important to me than having the academic last word on the subject.

Grateful for any independent recommendations or thoughts on the topic.

If you have decided on say Bloomsbury you ought to consider ICPA where the publications come bundled with membership plus various other benefits like PII, AMLCC software and some CPD.

Whilst the sub is possibly not worth just the Bloomsbury access if the other benefits are perceived as useful it is pretty reasonable value for money.

(vested interest disclosue- I am a former member, they kicked me out , much to my disgust, when I ceased in practice; having said that the clue is in their name)
