Date of registration

Hi

Go to this website, enter the VAT number and the date of registration will be there.

http://www1.agenziaentrate.it/servizi/vies/vies.htm?act=default&piva=&stato=GB

This has been posted recently, I don't claim any credit for it.

Simply superb

What a super site.

Much easier than requesting duplicate certificates from the HMRC and them not bother to send out!!!

I have just collected 20 start dates in the time it would have taken me to get through to the VAT helpdesk!

Fantastic, my day is made.

EU search

I have tried the ec.europa.eu search.  It gave me the registered name and address, which might be useful in some cases, but not the effective date of registration.  Am I missing something?

Sabotaged by UK HMRC (why are UK tax authorities such TRASH?)

By today the useful date of VAT registration look up facility has been stopped by UK HMRC:-

http://www1.agenziaentrate.it/servizi/vies/vies.htm?act=piva&stato=GB&piva=892568373

or

http://tinyurl.com/UKhmrcTryToDisruptBusiness

"N.D. (Non Divulgabile) = Lo Stato membro selezionato non ha autorizzato la divulgazione di questa infomazione."

which translates (Babelfish) as:-

"N.D. (Divulgabile) = the selected Member States has not authorized the spreading of this infomazione. "

I justify my phrase "why are UK tax authorities such TRASH?" By stating the following:-

"In recent years businesses trying to progress their trade have in effect had their foot on the accelerator whilst certain segments of HMRC tax authorities have been pulling the handbrake on to slow or prevent progress" Examples being:-

1.  VAT registration process.

2.  VAT online filing process now - can't get instant data, instead try an under-staffed 'phone line and takes days to do something that should be (was once) available instantly.

3. The phrase used by one segment of HMRC about a certain policy that it has to "disrupt business"

This latest censorship of VAT registration details fits rather well with item 3. above doesn't it?

Help!

Now these websites have been closed down, how do I get the date of first registration for a client who has lost their VAT certificate?  They won't give it to me on the phone.

HMRC may have some spiteful individuals in charge

The closing down of the VAT registration facility at the request of UK HMRC just goes to show how spiteful some individuals (or is it departmental policy?) might be.

Former HMRC (VAT section) officers sometimes refer to a departmental policy of "disruption" to business (if there's a problem then scatter-gun shoot everyone in the hope that the few baddies get hit, never mind about any collateral damage). [Just the sort of thing you''d expect of a fascist regime].

This closing down of a date of registration look up facility clearly could fall within that definition.

Now, let's look at alternatives in these circumstances:-

Telephone the VAT "help" line (0845 010 9000) and ask for a VAT duplicate registration certificate to be issued : one slight problem here - there are not enough resources (manpower) deployed here so, as a colleague of mine found out this afternoon, you get to hear  a recorded message about being busy and then get cut off.    I think that the telephone lines might be easier to get through to speak to someone around 8am - 9am or 5pm to 8pm.Write to HMRC for a duplicate certificate ( HMRC website has an incomplete and difficult to find system of finding the correct address to write to, however )Find the letter that was received around February / March this year that ouitlined the online filing requirements - this letter states the Effective Date of Registration
