I've recently purchased Onvio VAT software from Digita to complete some of our VAT Returns for Making Tax Digital.
I've set up the software yesterday and authorised the software with HMRC the same day. I then set up all of the clients for this month. I've tried yesterday and today opening a VAT quarterly template and the software starts interacting with HMRC, gets to 60% and then you get an error message saying that the HMRC server has encountered an unexpected problem. Naturally, I phoned Digita and HMRC yesterday and neither were able to say why this is the case.
I did wonder if I needed to wait a period after authorising the software before attempting to complete any VAT Returns. I signed a client up directly the other day and then HMRC said not to complete a VAT Return for them for 72 hours so wondered if it was something simple like that for this problem? All of my clients were on my HMRC account for VAT and I linked all of my clients to my Agent Services Account last month so I assume all have been transferred.
Has anyone else had this problem? I'm tempted just to put in all the Returns in through the old method and just tell all of the clients the reasons for this but wanted to check if there was a simple solution to this issue.
