Orchestra FRS%

Any ideas?

Didn't find your answer?

I can't see 'orchestra' or 'musicians' or any such on the FRS list. However, I wouldn't say that they fall into 'business services not elsewhere listed'.

What rate would you / should I give them?

Thanks

I'd say Entertainment, 12½%.

Unless they're really carp, obviously.

A proper professional orchestra or a part time hobbyish orchestra doing it for the fun of it? You could perhaps argue recreation at 8% for the latter but it's probably entertainment at 12.5%.

If you're charging the orchestra members, you could maybe argue recreation at 8½%.

But if you're charging folk to listen, I'm not seeing that argument.

Don't agree to artificially define their business. It'll look like they're on the fiddle.

Alright, alright, no need to harp on about it.

They’re pro’s (although my mum’s choir falls into the ‘recreational’ category)

Probably limited cost trader, so 16.5%. Usually professional musicians are better off avoiding the FRS.

Or possibly culturally exempt, depending on governance structure...
