I've recently taken over the payroll function for a business with 150 employees and we are reviewing the outsourced payroll provider. They are probably one of the biggest; very expensive and there doesn't appear to be much in the way of added value for their charge. There is plenty of competition out there for the payroll function, but for form P11d preparation (not so much preparation as once a year data collection) and filing online, comparable companies are charging large sums (e.g. £20 per person, per annum) and the business has very simple P11d needs, at worse two line entries per person and no cars or complex benefits.
So I'm thinking of bringing this function in-house. Given the very simple content of the P11ds, I'm not too bothered about the software itself and I have two essential needs:-
a) to store a digital copy of the P11d that can be distributed in pdf format once a year, or on request.
b) to upload the completed P11ds to HMRC.
Do you have any recommendations for software that will meet this brief?
