PAYE registration - quickest method

What is the quickest PAYE registration method

Didn't find your answer?

Hi all.

We have a small number of clients who we are not yet authorised PAYE agents - address issues, lack of client response etc.

Previously it's not been an issue as we can still file RTIs however with the CJRS claims we now need to be.

What is the quickest method of getting authorised for PAYE?

64-8 will presumably take as long as the post processed, requesting a code presumably 1-2 weeks, any other method?

With MTD isn't there a way you can send a client a link to click on which allows you to submit MTD VAT returns? Is there a PAYE version?

Thanks in advance

I think the link to which you refer is the one sent to clients when you sign them up for MTD for VAT that authorises HMRC to contact them by email, it has nothing to do with authorising you as agent, you have to already be authorised as their agent for VAT to even generate the email.

The quickest method is for the client to log in to their own business tax account and add you as agent under the PAYE service. The main drawback to this is that the client has to have a business tax account on which they've activated the PAYE service, which is unlikely if you do their payroll.

After that, the quickest method is by requesting a code be issued by post.
