PAYE Software

Which to use

Didn't find your answer?

I have 1 client who I do payroll for. I have now risen to the unsettling heights of 2 (looks like it will soon be 3).

Both have a single employee and are processed monthly. The (maybe) 3rd client will have 2-5 employees, I imagine that will change things.

I use Basic Tools for the single client, but feel I need to start, and would prefer if I was doing it on a 'proper' software.

I have looked but keep seeing ones for single company payroll. Also I think Sage is quite expensive?

Any recomendations? TIA.

Look at BrightPay and you will soon be eager to take on more payroll clients. It removes many of the challenges of software as it intuitively handles Auto Enrolment, prompting you as soon as anything needs doing, links seemlessly with NEST, Peoples Pension and others, handles CIS easily, gives you an employee cloud option if you want, has already been updated to deal with furlough pay, to name but a few of the outstanding features (ignoring the more day-to-day, but nevertheless excellent processing features). I love the way they are year on year seeking to improve the software. I have never regretted moving to BrightPay since I ditched Sage several years ago, and I would thoroughly recommend it every time.

I wasn't looking at changing my payroll software...but your reply has sparked my interest :-)
I have requested a demo, but ahead of that, is it easy to input all the details from another software provider do you know?
And do they have the function to email payslips to employees direct?
Thanks.

Easy to import from another provider and yes the opportunity to email payslips but the CONNECT option is far mor "as of today" where employees can self service.

I'm another voice saying get Brightpay. I've never known anyone regret that choice.

Moneysoft is also good. Not a cloud system in itself but can be used in more than one location. I have it on office PC and home laptop, with files stored in cloud.

There you have it in a nutshell. Moneysoft or Brightpay - no need to look anywhere else.

Brilliant, BrightPay wins the majority. I’ll look at both but thank you all that answers my question!

There’s a million threads in this - 99% of the votes will be for either Moneysoft or Brightpay, try them both and see which suits you.

For good reason BrightPay is highly rated on here but I think you find BrightPay to be more forward looking of the software providers. Especially great at make Auto Enrolment very easy.

BRIGHTPAY without a shadow of a doubt. Have used it for years - ever since it started. You can download a 60 day trial. There are no add ons unless you use the self service for your clients portal. Support is second to none. Its very easy to set up clients and use. Others may recommendMoneysoft but my eference is certainly Brightpay.

I suppose it depends on whether you are looking for a Cloud solution, the features you require and usually pricing comes into it.

My wife [she does the payrolls] has used Sage & Iris but switched to Moneysoft a few years ago and it works well. Unltd companies/businesses with max of 100 emp'ees per payroll £144/yr + Vat

Brightpay for 25 companies/businesses you are looking at £399+vat or £499+vat for unltd

As already suggested give them a go in a FREE trial period

Everyone on here will have a view. Mine is Moneysoft. Both Brightpay and Moneysoft are very good products and both have their strengths and weaknesses. I have looked at BP on several occasions but never been taken enough to want to move. I am extremely happy with MS, especially its ease of use and the speed I can do things. I do tag MS onto PayDashboard for certain larger clients if I want employees to access payslips in the cloud. The only way you will know which is right for you is to try them both. And with so few payroll clients just now, it's the perfect time. Both will be significantly better than Basic Tools!

I use 12Pay
Handles payroll nicely. CIS and AE are add ons, but pricing very reasonable

Then again all of my payrolls are straightforward. If you've got (or expect) any that are "Messy" like benefits payrolling P11D's car's atc then you'll quickly run into its limitations I think.

I defo would look at Brightpay - many on here have endorsed it

Thanks again all. Always very impressed with the level of feedback from other people on here, I do appreciate it. I have had my demo for Brightpay and sorting setting it all up! Thanks again!
