Just checking the HMRC website regarding a recently submitted 2017 tax return.
HMRC shows the correct balancing payment of £1,028.80 but no payments on account for 2017-18. The balancing payment is more than 20% of the total liability.
I've phoned the agents helpline but they were unable to shed any light.
Is this yet another glitch in the HMRC computer?
Anyone else encountered something similar?

I have had this problem with about 6 clients now and there seems no pattern. Husband and wife with almost identical tax positions. Payments on account generated for one and not the other! HMRC agent line either don't know anything or say it is a problem they are looking at. No phone back from back office as yet despite several reports.
This is still happening! Discovered one today and client paid just the balancing payment.
HMRC say that they are aware of the error but so far it has only been posted on their internal guidance.
I had one last week. Rang the ADL and they fixed it. (I needed them visible so that I could reduce them).
