Payroll Bureau Software

Considering a change due to Moneysoft/365 compatibility problems

Didn't find your answer?

I know this question has been asked before, but given the pace of development I thought I might test the waters again.

Have been using Moneysoft for 15 or so years, however recent changes when we moved to a shared server and now finding that we can't email directly from Moneysoft as we now run office 365, means we are considering suitable alternatives.

If it makes any difference, we run about 100 payrolls although that number is gradually increasing,

I would just get to the reason why the e-mails weren't working, fix that if possible, then continue using MoneySoft.

If it really won't work with Office 365 then just set up another account (say gmail) to route all your payroll emails through. You could even set up an autoforwarder to send them all to your 365 account or just bcc them in MoneySoft to your 365 account if you want to keep a permanent record in your e-mail system.

As Wanderer says, there are easier solutions.

Having looked at the email set up I cant believe that there is not a solution. I dont know who your broadband supplier is but ours (Zen) provide us with some free Pop3 accounts. All that needs be done is to put the pop3 details in and choose the bcc all emails and the payslips are mailed to the recipients, they can see that you have sent them using the "senders Email field" I suggest you speak with your computer support guy and get him to sort this out.

hi there,
we had the same issue, solved it by creating a gmail account and sent 'reply to' as our regular email address.
problem solved!
only snag is clients get emails from a gmail account but we explained why when we changed and no issues.

Whilst all of the answers thus far make practical sense, you will be well advised to read-up on the changes to rules regarding Data Protection.

I agree. sorting out the email is the best option, even if it means setting up another email account.

Some great suggestions already! Moneysoft is a great product, however, as you are now running Office 365 I assume you're starting your journey to the cloud? At Octopus Blue we help accountants and business leaders find the best software solutions for them.
I'd be delighted to offer a complimentary call to discuss your requirements and see how we can help.

The only time I have a problem with Moneysoft emails is when I update my computer logon password. I then have to update the password on Moneysoft. Tools - Email - Setup - Password. Also, you might want to make sure Moneysoft has the right settings for your new server, which looks like they are in the same place.

Don't tell me: you have some software that solves this problem.

No unfortunately, but we are a payroll bureau (www.ccmlpay.com) and ALL payroll information is submitted via our secure online portal. Client's employees have access to our payslip portal (also secure). Our software is written and developed by ourselves and is not commercially available. I would suggest that the only way to ensure this information is kept secure is via a secure cloud environment, definitely not email.

Well, waddya know. You have got some software that can resolve the problem of cyber criminals stealing Jim the barman's pay slip after all. Who'da thunk it?

Thanks for all the replies. Shame the questions are frequently hijacked by salesmen and the "mines better than yours brigade".
It seems that Moneysoft is not compatible with Office 365 (tried all sorts of configuration), however I asked my hosting company to host that particular email and we have got it to work that way.

Have you looked at Brightpay by any chance? My clients use Brightpay and Brightpay Connect (Cloud self service add-on). It negates the need for emailing payslips because the employee can simply login to Connect and retrieve their payslip securely themselves. Might be worth considering at some point.
