Payroll bureau software

Looking for recommendations please

Didn't find your answer?

Our practice includes a payroll bureau running payroll for approx 200 employers.

We have monthly, 4 weekly, fortnightly, weekly payrolls. We deal with various pension providers. We are a BACs bureau. We have a portal for online payslips etc but also provide paper versions as required. It's a very comprehensive and flexible service.

Our current software is very badly lacking in terms of tools to manage the deadline side of things. It is great software in terms of running individual payrolls but although it presents itself as bureau software it really doesn't perform in terms of workflow management, global reporting etc. We are relying on checklists generated via spreadsheets. This is time consuming, duplicates information and is open to error.

Does anyone have any recommendations for bureau software that might suit please?

I used that back in 2008 when I worked for a chamber of commerce. Great program to be fair but probably not conducive to bureau handling.

Have a look at BrightPay.
I'm not certain whether it will meet your workflow management requirements if you're wanting a solution that will report globally on state of completion of individual employers etc, but from my front screen I can see finalising status, outstanding submissions and date last opened. I'm not aware of the ability to report on this though.
Overall, the software provides excellent functionality, with intuitive Auto Enrolment features, the ability to link to accounts programs such as Xero, cloud data storage facility, CIS and batch operation option. I would recommend giving it a look.

Ditto!

For existing Brightpay users, please contact them to ask for more workflow/bureau management related features - if more of us ask for it, there's more chance it might happen.

I see from their latest update that you can now create statistical reporting for a bureau, with data for any period including:
Payslips finalised, new starters, leavers, total P60s, total P11Ds, RTI submissions sent, Auto enrolments/re-enrolments, opt-outs/cessations, enrolment submissions sent, contributions submissions sent, CIS payments finalised, CIS submissions sent.
That's pretty useful.

Agree completely with jace.
BrightPay has excellent functionality. Some workflow management on its homepage but I personally use spreadsheet tick lists to track progress

I recently launched https://www.staffology.co.uk to try and bring web-based payroll up to date to modern standards.

It'll work out significantly more expensive per year than something like BrightPay (which is an excellent product), but the degree of automation it provides (and therefore time saved and reduced labour costs) should more than justify the extra cost.

If other products aren't meeting your needs, then let me know of any specific features you need and I'm sure we can add them if we don't already have them.

KashFlow (which I also founded) was built based on taking feedback/requests from users and quickly converting them in to usable features. Staffology is doing the same for payroll.

Yes, understood. We already use a lot of Iris products. Expensive but worth it on the whole. If it's good it's worth paying for so we can grow the bureau.

www.payflow.io is payroll bureau management solution used by some of the top 10 accounting firms in the UK and many other smaller payroll bureaux.

We built it specifically for the payroll industry and whilst still quite unknown/under the radar (small marketing budget we'd rather spend on the product), we pack a good punch. Our list of customers is testament to that.

Come and have a look and book in a free demo:

It can be used alongside ANY and all payroll software; it is completely system agnostic.
