Payroll software for 50+ employees

Didn't find your answer?

We currently use Sage for payroll for just over 50 employees.  We also use Xero for Accounting and the 2 are completely incompatable in terms of journals.  So, I'm starting to look at different payroll providers.

I've read a lot about Brightpay on accountingweb and had a quick look at their website.  What are everyone's thoughts on it?
Most of our employees work for multiple clients/departments so I need to allocate their pay to different departments via the journal.  I wonder if this is possible in Brightpay, or any other suggestions you lovely people might have?  At the moment, I have to download the Nominal link and Employer Costs summary from Sage, and spend hours fiddling with it and proportioning employees pay to different departments - which is painful and very time consuming!

Also, our employees quite like having an online portal for payslips so this would be nice to have too.

Looks like BrightPay would suit you down to the ground.
I have a client in exactly your position, where there are multiple departments, I send Xero a journal directly from BrightPay, and staff access payslips via the BrightPay Connect portal.
All round it's an excellent package, dealing intuitively with Auto Enrolment and able to handle most things you need it to. 10/10

You will find several threads on this subject, most recommending Brightpay. We've been using the software for a few years now and we find it great. As a Sage and Xero user, you will benefit from the introduction of an API with both packages. It is significantly less expensive than Sage and far superior IMHO.
