Thought I'd take AE seriously for a change and apply for "Letter Codes" for all my payroll clients. The first 15 went through successfully using both PAYE reference numbers but number 16 was unsuccessful due to the site not being able to marry up the two codes (their reason, not mine). A call to the Pensions Regulator revealed that they had heard of my clients company and knew of the PAYE reference but hadn't linked the Letter Code to the company (again their explanation/excuse).
Am I the only person in the UK to find this shortcoming in the Regulator's records? These people will be finding any excuse to impose penalties in the future on small employers, so beware.
