Please sign this petitiion and save us...

Didn't find your answer?

Since the end of January, we have received an enormous amount of post from HMRC - coding notices forming the bulk. Every one is sent in a seperate envelope, and contains a factsheet that tells us why we are receiving the notice and what to do if we aren't happy etc. - I like to think we know what we are doing in this area, we are after all accountants and tax advisers!

I am sure you are all receiving the same, which means potentially £millions of taxpayers money wasted - they could email these to us or post them on the portal for SA/PAYE - something I think is under utilised anyway.

please sign this petition, ask your friends to sign it, and send it to your colleagues. With enough signatures we can save an awful lot of money, which could go towards something useful like more bank shares!

Thanks for your help and support - and I hope to see the signatures piling up in the next few weeks!

Been thinking the same for years!!
Agreed David

You would think HMRC had never heard of modern technology. Each agent has a unique log in area on HMRC website where copy coding notices and other general client letter correspondence is placed. The agent then gets an automatic email to say new document in your agent secure area for client X click here etc etc.

We can then print off if necessary and action or place in the client folder if agent is paperless.

Savings into the millions!!!

HMRC/NI office are the most inefficient organisations I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.

Well done David. If they take action it should equate to about 3p off income tax.

David..any chance you could start a petition to get shot of Gordon and his cronies at the same time...you know the sort of thing..."we the undersigned do hereby respectfully request Mr Gordon Brown and his entire government to resign with immediate effect so that they can go off and save the planet from the evil clutches of Freddie Goodwin and the like"

Companies House
Perhaps HMRC should speak to Companies House - I would say the latter's services are heading along the right lines. I think HMRC just suffers from appalling management.

Coding Notices
This very point was raised at a local Working Together meeting this week. The Revenue response was that their PAYE computer is unable to differentiate between a taxpayer (sorry customer) and an agent! They therefore had to attach the explanatory sheet to every P2 and issue each one separately even when they were sending maybe 200 / 300 to one agent on one day.

What are they paying their computer suppliers to provide?

On a further point, we have had P2s dated 8 February received in our office on 2 March, whilst some, for the same clients, issued 18 February were received on 25 February. Revenue don't know if it is down their "packers" or the PO - I know where my money is!
