Point of sale software

Point of sale software

Can anyone recommend any point of sale software suitable for a village shop, one that integrates with small business accounting software?

Diamond Discovery

Nigel,

You should give Diamond Discovery a try.

They have a very simple to use EPOS module and the rest of the system is easy to use too.
They can offer a wide variety of POS hardware to go with the software.

See the details at http://www.diamond-discovery.com/module_epos.html

The software is very competetively priced and they'll go out of their way to help you.

I worked for them until September last year but I would still recomend them as great value for money.

Contact them via their web site. http://www.diamond-discovery.com/contact.html

QuickBooks and the linking point of sale software
Works well for the small retail business environment. Several software writers can supply suitable software and you will find some listed in the QuickBooks add-ons.

Pastel Xpress
Hello Nigel,

Pastel Xpress should meet this requirement and we have installed it, together with POS hardware, in small shops previously.

Cost wise, you are looking at £484 & VAT for the software and annual licence/support in year 1 with an annual cost of £155 & VAT per year thereafter.

Hardware, you are looking at a cost of approx £1250 & VAT which will provide a touchscreen, till drawer, thermal printer, customer display and barcode scanner.

If you need more information, please go to http://www.pastel.co.uk or call us on 0845 456 3103

POS Software
I have been researching the same thing for a small retail outlet.

Look at http://www.simplyinvoice.co.uk or http://www.creative-software-solutions.info/html/stockcontrol.asp

Actinic are one of the most well known companies but the system will probably be around £1500.

Using a touch screen will add considerably to the cost but the Simply Invoice system I am trialling a system that uses a normal PC with a cash drawer and receipt printer plugged in to a usb port.

Linking to a back office system gets more expensive but the
Creative Software solution seems pretty comprehensive while the Simply Invoice is very basic.

I have also tried online systems but have found all these to be too slow to use in a shop.

There are also a few basic free versions if you Google 'free POS software'.

Id be interested if you find any others.
