Possible impairment of independence..

Didn't find your answer?

I work for a firm of chartered accountants and I am an FCA myself. Its recently been suggested that we use capitalise.com to help clients raise funding if/when they need it. I'm concerned they aren't independent and both my employer and I aren't licensed to give any financal advice. Does anyone have any experience of  capitalise.com? Any views? My other concern is that we are being asked to use capitalise.com as they will pay us payaways....

I have no idea who capitalise.com are, but what is their connection with you that causes you to say that they aren’t independent - I am assuming you mean of you of course? If not of you, who do you mean they are not independent of?

Hello John

I don't want to fall foul of the ICAEW's rules on giving financial advice to clients. In the same way that I believe I shouldn't make referrals to St James Place Partners as they aren't truly independent, due to them not being whole of market, my concern is that capitalise.com operate in a similar way.

So yes, I'm concerned they may not be whole of market and due to the payaways not necessarily independent of us.
