Post Brexit VAT and SAGE

VAT Rates etc and SAGE

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I have a client who is a UK registered company, registered for UK VAT as well.

He does business on Amazon, all his purchases (goods) and sales (goods) are dealth within EC more specifically Germany.

Firstly, does the client need to be UK VAT registered in this case? I believe the client need to be registered for German VAT.

Secondly, which box do we record the VAT on sales and purchases in the VAT100. If by any chance you know which Tax code to use in SAGE 50, that would be really helpful.

As the client sells on Amazon some customers would be VAT registered but mostly are individuals and are not VAT registered.

Regards

There’s a VAT and Europe/overseas question posted every few days. If you do a search, I’m sure you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Or you could check out the useful Brace for Brexit articles on here.

But a couple of hints
- if you have goods in a country, you almost certainly need to VAT register there
- amazon have lots of sellers in this sort of position, so they have some help guides available. I think they'll even do the compliance etc for you. For a fee.
