Power of Attorney

Power of Attorney

Didn't find your answer?

I've been asked by an existing client to bring his ill father's tax affairs up to date.  Client holds an Enduring Power of Attorney to deal with his affairs and all matters need to go through him (the client).

I presume I have to send the POA to HMRC along with the appropriate 64-8, but I'm not sure whether this all goes together to the CAA Team or if it should go somewhere "specialist" elsewhere?

Anyone done this before?

Power of Attorney

I've not had any experience with HMRC but as a holder of POA for my late mother I found that most institutions (banks, DWP, councils etc.) have a designated office dealing with the matter. A quick phone call to the general number explaining why I was ringing soon put me on to someone who knew what I was talking about, they specified what they wanted and from then on it was relatively easy.
