Practice accounting software

Practice accounting software

Didn't find your answer?

Hi

I've just upgraded my PC and was hoping to transfer my MS Office Accounting Professional 2009 on to it. Big problem - i cannot find the file i downloaded years ago (before MS discontinued their product) so i'm a bit stuck! I've tried the MS website and all they offer is the service packs 1, 2 and 3 they released, but no original program (very helpful).

I seems my only option is to look at another program. I use Sage with some of my clients, but it doesn't give the drill down functionality MS Accounting does. Quickbooks is slightly better but still not really what i'm after. I use VT with some of my clients as well but it's not really what i want.

I've been looking at Mamut and Kashflow as contenders but would appreciate some advice!

When you say ...

When you say "Quickbooks is slightly better but still not really what i'm after" can you tell us what it is that QB doesn't do (by way of examples) so that we can get a handle on what it is that you are trying to achieve.

Why do you want software?

Are you planning to say to any clients that you will use your software to do bookkeeping for them?

What will you do if other clients use different software and you will only be doing year end accounts?

I used to use several accounts packages and several versions of some: QuickBooks, Sage, MYOB, MS Office Accounting, TAS Books and Access Accounting. Eventually I cut it down to two because the others were rarely used - QuickBooks and Sage. I use QuickBooks for the small amount of bookkeeping I do and use Sage and QuickBooks to restore backups from clients.

Replacement for MS Office Accounting

For functionality and drill down similar to MS Office Accounting try TAS Books, not as cheap though !!

What is it about QuickBooks and VT that you do not like? This will help in recommending other software

Sage 2013

If you already have Sage you may want to check out Sage 2013 with the new reporting functionality which I briefly saw today at a Customer Day with one of our Business Partners, the drill down to line detail looked interesting.

PaperLess integrates with Sage 50 Accounts so you can share documents and transactions online with your clients that you are using Sage 50 Accounts with.

Re:Practice accounting software

For practicing, I always use Peach Tree and according to my experience, it is the best accounting software I have ever used. People recommends me other softwares and I also used these but Peach Tree is the best. Assignments
