Were I buying a printer now for home office use I would buy this one https://store.brother.co.uk/catalogs/brotheruk/devices/laser/mfc/mfcl282...

I don't have this model myself but I do have a Brother printer at home and for many years now I only buy Brother ones, they just seem more stable, predictable, with better drivers, fewer faults and reasonably cheap consumables.

I've the L2750 which seems to work fine although I do seem to get through toner cartridges!

bought a ix1600 scansnap earlier in the year- scans 50+ sheets double sided in a few seconds - with editing options if required- brlliant worth every penny superfast wifi or network + small footprint

i have also a multifunction similar to that in the link above - they are excellent but not gr8 for high volume scanning - print + copy ok .. if you want cheap..look for compatible toners

we have the scansnap too they are a great piece of kit - as you say different level scanning compared to most printers - the scanning here is more a light side option as we need a prinet - having said that if we are geting one the better overal the better.

of course offices of size that have largeish printer/photocopiers, can generally have added scan to mailbox/user [pc or network] software added to enhance capability.. but you are in a different size office here.. & there is more to go wrong !
