Problems submitting non digital VAT Return

When submitting a non digital VAT Return I get the message" You have signed out".

When attempting to submit a non digital VAT Return I receive the message " You have signed out". Anybody have any ideas please?

The client will have been moved over to your ASA - you need to submit the return from there, even though they are not registered for MTD.

HMRC have been moving non-MTD VAT registered businesses over the ASA for the last few months, you will find this happens with all your clients in time.

The client's details are still on the original system but I am being prevented from filing a return.

CB123 has provised the exact answer to your question - the fact that the client still exists in the old agent area is irrelevant - go to new asa MTD account and as if by magic you will be able to submit returns there.

Note its standard protocol that if you appoint client via old agent area route that they will always exists in both old area and new ASA account - IF they are either mtd registered or one of the chosen fews swapped by mistake. Ie its not necessarily the case that clients appear in one of the two areas only.

Thanks for your help but unfortunately I still cannot get anywhere. Receiving messages such as "You cannot manage this client's VAT". I understand you are to go to the view and change section but I cannot see that anywhere. Do I need an authority from the client or I need to add a new setvice to my ASA? Confused..

Log in to your ASA, go to 'Making Tax Digital for VAT', and enter the VAT number.
You should be able to submit the return from there.

As a final note on this: Finally after messing about with this my client's details have finally appeared in the ASA! So I can only assume the process takes several days to complete. Good old HMRC. So I wasted a load of my time and wasted yours but I guess that is the norm nowadays.

Oh gawwwwwwwd, how many times does this question get asked on here. Plus HMRC did warn agents.

Oh and btw, what CB123 said, doesnt mean they have to sign up for MTD.
