Professional training be classed as an expense?

Can a professional training via Uni be classes as an expense?

Didn't find your answer?

I am a sole trader of a business (a clinical practice). I am the clinical director of this company too. I was under professional training few years ago but didn't complete it so didn't receive the full qualification. I have been able to practise via a different qualification. I would like to complete my training (it was a professional doctorate in my chosen field of work) as it will help with the skills and qualifications to provide my work to a higher standard. I was wondering whether I will be able to do this and deduct it from tax as an expense as it for my company purpose? I was going to contact the university to complete it but then didn't as want to make sure I don't do anything illegal or dodgy. Can someone advise me please? It is not a random course but professional training related to my trade.

To be able to rely on the answer, given such a big cost best to pay someone with PII insurance.
There is not an instant reliable answer in the positive
There is nothing dodgy for a person or a trader taking a UNI course and paying from business account
But whether allowable as a tax deduction needs a lot more detail than provided.
Even with that detail a judgement would need to be made
