QBO Cost Questions

Anyone signed up recently "for free"?

Didn't find your answer?

Ok, so I've clicked the Aweb pop-up advert and have reached QBO's "Accountants'" sign-up page, where "sign up for free" transports me to a page informing me that "no credit card is needed".

None of which tells me what signing-up as a "QBO Accountant" entails or will cost. Is that some half-way house towards becoming a "Proadvisor", and what will signing up as a "QBO Accountant" entail and cost?

I have some idea what "Proadvisors" commit to, always assuming there are no hidden strings or costs to what's stated on the QB website.

Accountants get the use of the software for free for their own purposes, they are obviously hoping you bring some clients on board.
They were also offering some great deals on subscriptions, so we took advantage of both.

Many thanks NH, so no hidden future subscriptions or annual fee; and no mandatory progression to "Proadvisor" status?

I can see an offer "10 Quickbooks Online Plus Subscriptions for £1 each" but clicking "find out more" transports me to a data farming screen by which to request a phone call from a "Proadvisor Specialist". Was that your deal?

yes thats the one, they make you pay full price but give it back to you in a rebate which they tell me they are changing next month, but either way it has all worked OK for me, I like the software for certain clients, its a great price, and they pretty much leave you alone (unlike Xero)

Thanks, I'll look out for the change. I'm not sure how much full price might be, but it sounds expensive when multiplied by 10.

Using QBO for Accountants for almost a year now and quite happy with it.

They have just introduced a handy practice management tool which for a small PT practice like mine is a great free addition. Bearing in mind that the practice gets the QBO licence for free.

The price on the bundled subscriptions works as mentioned above. I pay £119.90 incl. VAT for 10 full subscriptions every month and get a rebate of c. £330 every 3 months making the effective cost of the subscriptions £1 per month each. Which is a good price if you can see these to the clients for £10 each.

Sounds good - is the rebate period finite?

I understand that the rebate period is infinite. At least I have not been told otherwise.

And the price of £1 gets you the usual perks like bank feeds etc.

i am thinking about offering QBO free to clients. also had a meeting with Sage about Sage One. Sage is £5 a month for the Accounting version - same as QBO, but the Sage One Starter version is just £1 a month. The Sage One Starter version appears to be fine for 'simple' clients who just want a cash book. i would be interested to find out what others think.

Data can be imported into Iris (using the Iris Connector being introduced this month) to prepare the final accounts so I would save at least £60 a year in summarising the clients records and posting to Iris

We use sage one start for most clients on a cash basis with a small amount of sales invoices,
we use sage one accounting for clients that use a sales and purchase ledger in more depth or that have stock.
we use QBO if a client has foreign currency (sage is crap for that) or comes to us already using QB
freeagent seems to be the one most clients prefer if they do the book-keeping themselves.
we also use Xero but only very sparingly for certain clients

usually we include sage in the fee, sometimes QBO, but we have to charge for the others
horses for courses

I got QBO for free about 2-3 years ago for my own accounts. Didn't have to make any payment. I'm still using it.

Thanks RL, that sounds as though it will just scrape within my budget.

Just had a quick look at Sage One Starter, and it's listed as £6.00 per month not £1 -am I missing something?

Hi, QBO accountants get a copy of QuickBooks for free to use for their own firm. Client files are chargeable but agree with NH that there are some deals that you may find appealing. Our Sales team will be able to answer any questions you have if you ring 0808 168 9533. Alternatively, we can arrange a call to you to discuss this further if you prefer.

Are you able to tell us what the "10 for £1" deal will change* to next month?
*mentioned earlier in the thread by NH

The Deal itself is not changing, the Rebate System is, however. According to Get Connected event earlier this month, Intuit is moving to a completely new billing system for accountants and it will allow them to change the billing of the 10 for £10 offer on QB Plus.
instead of it showing up as the full price and you getting a rebate 3 months later, it will only show up as £1.

This is to tie in with the integration of Quickbooks Self-employed which will soon be available for accountants to sell through wholesale billing as well.

I won't be using Sage anytime soon.

If VT doesn't work from April 2019, I'll look around. QBO and Clearbooks seem favourites at thed moment but there's a fair few furlongs still to run.

I wouldn't rule it out and it might well be worth a look when you need to change.

Old Sage One (5/6 years ago) was rubbish but new Sage One (what you get now) is completely different. They should have renamed it.

Yes Sage has been playing catch up with the likes of Xero but in MHO are getting there.

Looking at the price point for clients Sage V Xero and Sage is hard to beat.
