A client has joined Quick Books for MTD and for some reason cannot connect HSBC bank to the software. Quick books have been told and it is now over a week and still not sorted. Has anyone else had this problem and how did they sort it.

long shot but in sage if feed does not refresh i completely disconnect and start from scratch anmd that often solves the problesm.
Do remember quickbooks and barclays for ages couldnt get it to work.
You are 100% at the mercy of quickbooks support to advise whether its known issue at their/the banks end or not - you need to know if you have done somethig wrong.
quickbooks should have update page i would hope ref known errors
Try a different browser. Alternatively, disconnect the bank, clear cache and cookies, restart the browser and reconnect. This solves the connection issues occasionally.
With some banks, some types of accounts can no longer be linked after the move to open banking but I have not had that issue with HSBC.
The problem is that the software companies blame the banks and the banks say it is nothing to do with them!
One issue I previously had with HSBC and QBO connections was that only the primary account holder could connect. I don't know if that is still an issue but may be worth checking.
With QBO clearing your browser's cache and stopping any pop up blockers tends to help
After that do you get any error code or message ?
