I am using QB on-line accounting and the payroll within it. I have two companies in the process of being dissolved. In both cases the only employee was the director and I processed them as leavers after their last payroll.
The software will now not let me roll forward to another month as there are no employees, and I am also told that it cannot process the payroll year end as there are no longer any employees. QB have advised me in both cases to re-run the whole year's payroll in another product and process the YE through that.
Just letting you all know - as you may have the same problem pending and not realise it!!

I thought that you would make the director leave and issue P45's etc and then tell the software that the payroll has ceased and report this via RTI. I do not think you run a "dormant" payroll and do year-end reporting.
