R&D claim

Any idea how long refunds are taking at the moment?

Didn't find your answer?

An R&D claim was made as part of companies 1st CT600, submitted mid November. I 've read that it can be as quick as 4 weeks, but doesn anyone now what the current timeframe is, given Xmas and January?

Thanks

Hi,

The last one I did (end of October) took about 4 weeks to come in (payment end November). Not sure if this has changed in the last 2 months

I don't know about now, but the last one we did was submitted in May and HMRC didn't issue the refund until 3 months later.

Anything from 2 to 9 months. Average around 4. There is no consistency.

As far as SME claims are concerned, HMRC has caught up having drafted in a large number of staff temporarily to process the backlog. Should therefore be 30 days max. The last one I submitted was repaid within 14 days. The RDEC unit is still way behind.

In case anyone’s interested, client received a cheque today dated 20/12, so that puts it about 5 weeks. Can’t believe I didn’t put bank details on the CT600!
