Open VPN.
Fast as your internet connection.
Never had reliability problems.
Free.

Hint: Buy a decent modem / router with it built in, will make setup very easy.

It's OpenSource and community driven. No ads.
There are some licence charges if you connect to some commercial servers but not for the normal connecting from remote to the office type of VPN.

Alternatively, for £35 you can buy a RaspberryPi and set OpenVPN up on that. Connected via an ethernet cable it's certainly fast enough for a VPN (I use one at home for that purpose myself).

Setting up a VPN server on your own hardware isn't the same as buying access to a VPN service for private browsing etc. What's the purpose of the VPN?

We use an OpenVPN server installed on a Synology NAS we have in the office to access our local network from outside.
