Register a UK branch

Is there any formation software available

Didn't find your answer?

I received an inquiry recently about registering a UK branch with headquarters based in the US.

I haven't done a branch for years and need to recap on the intricacies of registering a branch

Is it still IS ON01 form or is there specialist software available ?

Not the sort of thing I’d be taking on without recent experience.

More haste, less speed Sanjay!

Think you'll find it's an OS IN01 form (not IS ON01) ... but David's helpful link will get you started, despite his note of caution (which I endorse).

Sanjay
You take on so many situations that I would not.
I intend to stick with what I know

IMO registering a branch - without software - is relatively straight-forward. However, this is the minute tip of an immense iceberg!

The preparation before filing, and what you do once the registration is complete, is far from straight-forward!

As for the headquarters being in the US, as opposed to somewhere a little 'simpler' from an accounting and tax perspective (such as IE), I'd be running a mile - not from the actual branch registration (which could be handled by a specialist), but from the entire engagement!

If you're going to do it Sanjay... good luck, and check with your PII and PB!

Why step into something none of us do every day, have you discussed with their US tax advisers setting up a company and treating as a branch when they elect the entity classification?

Just stepping back from the situation, is the client pushing for a branch instead of setting up a subsidiary?
