Rehiring to go back on furlough

Issued P45s on Saturday afternoon due to old scheme now it's all change again

Didn't find your answer?

Hello everyone,

I'm pretty sure of the answer already but would like some confirmation. A client issued P45s to employees who were on Furlough on Saturday due to the (then) new scheme for November not being viable for them. Then sunak changed it all again back to the 80%. The client and their ex employees are jumping around wanting them re instated onto the new scheme. I have said they are now new hires so it isn't possible, am I correct.

Many thanks in advance

Richard

The previous scheme explicitly allowed for the rehire and furlough of leavers, so unless there is new guidance that says otherwise, I would say it's permitted now.

The problem is it won't be JUST ONE MONTH, it will be at least 3 month. You must be blind not to see this, Gove said they will be looking at the numbers making decision to extend or not extend lockdown beyond 2nd of December. Do you really think number will drops dramatically in 1 month time?
(I am not talking about my case here by any means).

A month is a long time in Covidland.

HMRC could've changed their CJRS advice a dozen times in a month.

I spoke to the client, the jobs no longer exist so the P45s stand. Thanks for the replies.

My concern now is that for genuine non family lost jobs, the risk to owner is present but benefit to owner is zero.
