Rental loss relief in period of administration

Can they be carried forward after death?

Didn't find your answer?

A client passed away last year and they received rental income.  They had rental losses available.

The estate has continued to receive rental income during the period of administration - can those losses from the taxpayer be carried forward and offset against the estate's income?

Thanks for your help.

Was the deceased your client? From your question, the executors have appointed you to deal with tax in the administration period. Is that correct?

I would have thought the losses would be lost as the property now belongs to the estate and, ultimately, the beneficiaries.

Yes and yes to the first 2.
My thoughts were the same, but I wanted to ensure I was not missing anything.
