Retrieve HMRC Data on IRIS Personal Tax - error

Retrieving HMRC data on IRIS Personal Tax doesn't work. Locked out every time

Didn't find your answer?

Anyone else having problems getting IRIS Personal Tax to retrieve HMRC data?

I had set it up once but for a month or so it has asked me to re-do it.  So I take the steps and it takes me to the credit check area and every time the question comes up "when did you last take out a credit card?" it will not accept either answer! I have tried several times and tried every answer.  Every time I answer it it closes the page and a warning comes up ""Identity_verification_locked_out" and then I cannot retry for 2 or 3 days.

I've rang HMRC online help and they told me to do it again and this time instead of logging in scroll down and click get help with this page and fill in the form.  Ive done it today and received an answer advising me to create another account or not use old bookmark links. Clearly this doesnt relate to teh issue I have!

Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

HMRC's new policy on all website issues is to refer you to "get help with this page" and it's never, ever useful, usually resulting in an impossible "solution" or an answer to a different question to what you asked.

Have you tried asking IRIS about it? I get that the issue is with HMRC's site but it could be to do with how IRIS is linking you to the page and IRIS will at least have someone who knows how their software works answer the phone.

Hi Duggimon. Yes I have have spoken to IRIS and they say that it is an issue with HMRC as IRIS only facilitates opening up HMRC screens in order to get the "retrieve HMRC data" set up. That is really what it looks like as well to be honest.

HMRC are really letting taxpayers down and indeed us agents through having such a shambolic roll out of digital services. It is quite ridiculous how thia is allowed to be! I can't quite believe it. If UK businesses were all run to the same standard of utter inefficiency nobody would make any profit.
